Reliable and smooth operation

The local agents and representatives of Valon Kone subsidiaries have been trained at VK’s factory in Finland in order to ensure that you will receive the best possible maintenance services wherever you are in the world.

Preventive maintenance is always less costly than remedying unexpected failures. Therefore, VK’s maintenance staff will visit you regularly to inspect the operation of your debarker and ensure that all unanticipated faults and unnecessary production interruptions are avoided.

VK’s maintenance services cover everything your debarker may require

  • Machine optimisation (debarking quality and machine operation)
  • Diagnostics, repair advice and repairs
  • Tool tip maintenance and repairs
  • Maintenance needs analysis
  • Regular periodical and annual maintenance and repairs
  • Equipment modernisation and factory maintenance

Valon Kone deliveries normally include installation supervision and commissioning of the debarker. This is to ensure that the machine can be set up for production as quickly and flexibly as possible. The installation and commissioning are handled by Valon Kone’s maintenance organisation.

Once the installation and electrical wiring of the debarker is complete, the process will proceed to the start-up phase, which includes inspecting the installation, starting up the machine and monitoring the machine’s operation and debarking quality. Valon Kone’s automation engineer will always check the machine’s controls are functioning properly. In addition, the start-up phase includes training for the operation and maintenance staff of the debarker.

Machine modernisations

Your debarking needs may change during the machine’s life span, which is why Valon Kone provides various modernisation packages for nearly all of its debarker models.

Examples of machine modernisations:

  • The second debarking rotor can be added to a single-rotor machine, which allows to achieve a higher feed speed and better debarking result.
  • The machine can be retrofitted with a butt-end reducing rotor for handling butt-ends. Butt-end reducing improves the debarking and sawing result by trimming the butt of the timber to ensure smooth operation.
  • The closed pressure system of the feedrolls can be converted into an active system. This improves the machine’s functionality in varying conditions and reduces log damage.

When enquiring about machine modernisations, please inform us of your debarker’s model/type, serial number and year of manufacture so that we can serve you as quickly as possible.

E.g. Model VK450, no. 123/2001: the machine’s type number can also be in the format 450-480-6-450-RH
