In fall of 2020, Valon Kone supplied a VK Kodiak 622 (22”) debarker to Dempsey Wood Products for the new log merchandising line. “We chose the VK Kodiak debarker for its design and the aftermarket service offered by VK North America LLC”, says Parker Dempsey, general manager. The Kodiak is the first ring debarker in the mill, the equipment replaced a drum debarker.
Dempsey Wood Products is a family owned and operated sawmill, founded in 1988. They process predominantly southern yellow pine and annual production is approximately 120 mmbf (283,000 m3) on a one shift operation. In addition to dimension lumber, the end products are chips for local pulp mills and landscaping mulch. Their main markets are in the United States.
